LEARN SPANISH IN ANTIGUA

Antigua was one of the great cities of the Spanish Empire, serving as the administrative centre for all of Central America and Mexican Chiapas, and the magnificent colonial churches, monasteries and mansions built during this era have ensured the city's continuing prosperity as one of Guatemala's premier tourist attractions.

  About the city

Antigua is a city of charm and color where you can see and buy an overwhelming variety of attractive, handmade products that honor the traditions of generations of artisans.

Central Park is the heart of the city the reconstructed fountain is very beautiful. People enjoy this park from early in the morning to late at night. Nowadays, Antigua is noted for its very elaborate religious celebrations for the Holy Week leading up to Easter.

Three large volcanoes dominate the horizon around Antigua. The most commanding, to the south of the city, is the Volcán de Agua or "Volcano of Water", some 3766 meters high. It is so named because the crater atop it was formerly filled with water.

Antigua has an incredible number of ruined and restored colonial buildings , and although these constitute only a fraction of the city's original splendour, they do give an idea of its former extravagance. If the prospect of visiting all the sights we've listed is too overwhelming, make La Merced, Las Capuchinas, Casa Popenoe and San Francisco your targets.

  Our Spanish courses in Antigua

Intensive

This is a general Spanish language course with a small group that includes 20 lessons per week .
During every session, the teacher will focus on both theory and practice, covering all of the elements needed to become proficient in a foreign language . Grammar, reading, writing, listening, speaking and vocabulary are always incorporated simultaneously, in order to approximate the student to an authentic communicative environment .

You will also be encouraged to develop intercultural competence with a combination of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will enable you to communicate and interact across cultural boundaries. Our approach to learning Spanish is intended to be as close as possible to real life situations in the Spanish-speaking world. Every lesson is independent but - as is the logical nature of any language - the use of grammar and vocabulary will be cumulative and sequential from class to class.
