It is located on the river Manzanares in the center of the country, in the historic region of New Castile. About the city

Madrid is the capital of Spain, seat of government, and residence of the Spanish monarch, and therefore the most important city in Spain. Madrid is located in the Mazanares River and covers an approximately area of 604.3 Km 2 that makes it the third largest city in the European Union only after London and Berlin. Nowadays, it is calculates that the population of the city is roughly 3.3 million, that also makes one of the most populated cities in Europe.  There are many theories about the origins of the name “Madrid”, some people contend that its original name was “ursaria” due to the large number of bears (Osos in Spanish) there were found near of the city. However, nowadays is commonly believed that the name comes from an old Roman settlement called “Marice”.

Currently, Madrid is one of the most important business centers in Europe and of course the largest in Spain, having amazing modern buildings and fashionable shopping areas that are widely visited by people from all over the world. However, Madrid is not only modern buildings; if you walk through the city you will find beautiful and ancient places and monuments like The Buen Retiro Park, the national archives and of course the archeological museum.  Madrid is a city that definitely you cannot fail to visit.

The general aspect of Madrid is modern, with boulevards and fashionable shopping areas, but the old quarters have picturesque streets. Its landmarks include the huge royal palace; a restored 1850 opera house; the Buen Retiro park, opened in 1631; the imposing 19th-century building containing the national library (founded 1712), the national archives, and an archaeological museum; and three superb art museums–the Prado, which houses one of the finest art collections in the world; the Queen Sofía Museum of modern art; and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, housed in the renovated Villahermosa Palace. Also noteworthy is the modern Ciudad Universitaria.

The school offers Spanish cultural activities every day and guided excursions are optional and subject to possible changes due to unforeseen circumstances. The course starts a week before Christmas and can be booked a maximum of two weeks.

DELE Exam: Basic/Intermediate

This course is only for non-native Spanish speakers and consists of 20 classes per week. At this level you require an intermediate Spanish (B1 level) or advanced Spanish (B2 level). Exam fees are not included.

Course dates: 2 or 4 weeks before the examination (May 20, Aug 19, Nov 18). Minimum course duration is 2 weeks.

Groups: Maximum of 16 students per class.

DELE Exam: Superior

This course is only for non-native Spanish speakers and consists of 20 classes per week. At this level you require mastery Spanish (C2 level). Exam fees are not included.

Groups: Maximum of 12 students per class.

Intensive

In the Intensive course you will have 4 Spanish classes from Monday to Friday in groups of a maximum of 8 students. If you need to advance more quickly in oral communication we recommend you go for the Super- Intensive course, with 2 extra daily classes based on oral and written communication practice.

In addition, you have the option of attending an extra and completely free daily class covering different topics of cultural interest. We know that for a language course to be successful, it is not enough to offer excellent teaching. Other factors, such as socio-cultural aspects, also play an important part in its success.
